2025 wrapped – January 2026

We might be slightly late to the “year wrapped” trend, but here’s a look back at our 2025 so far and how it’s shaped our Enduroman training journey

Trisha started training in August with Paul Robinson from Ultra Endurance Tri (www.ultraendurancetri.com) , while Rachel began in November  shortly after some very important 40th birthday celebrations.

Why did we get a coach?

We decided to get a coach because there’s very little structured guidance for training for a two-person Enduroman, especially if you want to complete it well rather than just survive it. While AI tools (yes, even ChatGPT!) can be helpful, they’re not quite ready for duo ultra-endurance race strategy — one suggestion even involved checking whether we knew about the Eurostar between London and Paris… not quite the point.

Paul Robinson — record holder for the fastest Enduroman time in skins — has kindly agreed to coach us. His role is essentially to make sure Trisha doesn’t do too much, and Rachel definitely does enough. Balance is everything.

Summer 2025 – Oslo

Oslo was stunning and an incredible place to explore, though we wouldn’t recommend fjord skins swimming there unless you enjoy the company of jellyfish However we did find some fantastic lakes including the lake where the Norwegian rowing team did their training which had very well ordered buoys, great for navigation.

The walking, however, was beautifully hilly, and the Norwegian concept of “fika” (coffee and cake) proved to be a strong motivational tool for Rachel on longer walks.

Autumn 2025 – Northern Ireland

We also had a brilliant trip to Northern Ireland, walking sections of the North Down Coastal Path both north and south of Belfast. The scenery was spectacular and it’s definitely one to add to your list: https://walkni.com/walks/north-down-coastal-path/
